About the Author
Aaron Lunsford resides in Nashville, TN with his wife and two children where he is continuing to pursue his drumming career. In 2003 he joined up with As Cities Burn and went on to record and tour with the band until 2013. As Cities Burn released 3 records with Tooth and Nail Records and toured with bands such as Underoath, Emery, The Bled, mewithoutYou, Poison the Well, Mayday Parade, Gym Class Heroes, Pierce the Veil, Brandtson, Jonezetta and had two stints on the Vans Warped Tour. After foraying into tour management and artist management from 2009 - 2013, Aaron has narrowed his focus to session and "drummer for hire" work. Venturing into blogging and writing a memoir in 2015, Aaron has high hopes of writing about food, travel and baseball. For the time being it seems he will have to stick to music writing in order to please his current audience and actually make some bucks.

Wanna know what it was like to live the weird life of a touring band in the mid 2000s !

BACKSTAGE tells the story of As Cities Burn's formative years up to the release of their debut record through drummer Aaron's Lunsford badmouth lens. Aaron Lunsford, or "Shy Guy" as my mother calls him, is a misunderstood and cryptic artist. On stage he has been known to wear his own band shirt. He bleeds America, baseball, obscure Seinfeld references, anxiety, Jimmy Eat World, and Budweiser, while inventing a hyper creative drum style in heavy music he seems hardly aware of. This book is less about the Christian Music Scene, and more about what it like to be Aaron Lunsford : an ultra-sensitive badboy.

BACKSTAGE takes you through the whole process of a hardcore touring band before Napster came and ate out the music scene's heart. Aaron explores how these protected Christian kids evolved into their early twenties while living an unconventional life on the road. There are uncircumcised penis tricks, tour shenanigans involving feces, and existential moments of clarity about life and one's position in the universe. Aaron's prose is brutal, colloquial, direct, and laugh out loud funny. We get to swirl around in his neurotic mind, and understand a bit more about Aaron's relationship to art, drumming, money, suicide, Seinfeld, stardom. If you ever wondered what it's like to do figure eights around the country nonstop for months on end, and all the emotional damage that comes with it, look no further than this book. I read it in two sittings and laughed like a gigglyasaurus. Can't wait to read the next one!

The book to end all books and make successful authors rethink how they write.

Being a kid from the post-hardcore scene days (and still stuck in that mentality and remisincing about the "good ol' days) I couldn't wait for this book to come out. My first time seeing ACB was with underoath in Lexington, KY... Only to have the show cancelled. The next time would be in the great city of Cincinnasty, OH. Except then known as Hawkboy and not really ACB. FINALLY seeing them with underoath on the "farewell" tour was everything I could had hoped for. The band was tight and as if they never stopped playing. I realize I have gone on and on about the band but I did so to only say this... Being in that scene and struggling with my own bands from this time era I understand a lot of what Aaron discusses here. So rather than be depressed about not making it big or not to have any records sold to be proud of and going on about how I can happily take refuge in someone else who has felt my pain... I'll just say that upon reading the first chapter for free on badchristian.com I was able to immediately bench press 600 pounds. I could speak 4 different languages also. My poor vision and lack of hearing was instantly and miraculously healed! My 1 year old son could instantly solve extensive algebraic equations. My beard grew long and more full than ever before. Yes. By only reading the first chapter. I can hardly wait to see what magic beans the book as a whole can offer. To Aaron I say, God bless and God speed. Although the world may not have appreciated what you guys did in the good ol' days.. I did. As a drummer you helped me shape my craft and bring in new elements I had never pushed myself to doing before. You are a god among men. And for that, I thank you. My wife will certainly appreciate me writing this on her Amazon account since I'm too lazy to make one. You understand.

Couldn't Put it Down

I don't even know where to begin. First off, well done Aaron, for getting me to read a book. I suck at reading, I lack the attention span - but the subject matter of your book made it impossible to put down. I live in Canada, and I probably won't have the physical copy for another week (the tracker says it's in Miami, who knows) - so I'm thankful I was able to get/read the advance digital copy. I have been a fan of As Cities Burn for a while and bought all the music and finally managed to see them twice, once in 2012 in Nashville on the reunion tour and then again with Underoath in Toronto in January 2013 before I went on tour with my band. I appreciated every bit of Aaron's writing, the transparency, the language, everything. I will be reading this to my husband when it finally gets here. We were just married this July - our wedding rings have a quote from the song Clouds inscribed in them. Forever fans. Thanks for this book.

Author Elizabeth SaFleur has the experience of serving as a public relations practitioner to Washington, DC clients for thirty years. Now she is a successful writer of erotic erotica romance and uses the moniker Elizabeth SaFleur `since her former business clients might be shocked at her new career choice.' LOVELY is Book 1 in a series she calls `Elite Doms of Washington' and it sizzles in what promises to be a very popular ongoing saga.

Elizabeth's obvious familiarity with the city of Washington DC is apparent from page one, and as we move briskly through this fascinating story, it is equally apparent that she is imbued with both a familiarity with the social life, the government types, and the shenanigans that only occasionally creep into the media. But back to the flavor established on page one: `The Jefferson Suite had a reputation. Everyone said so. Christiana Snow watched Henrick, the sous-chef, slip a red rose into the silver bud vase on the room service tray she'd been tasked to deliver. "There are some naughty stories about the guests that stay in that suite." He winked. "Let me take you to dinner, and I'll tell you all about it." She turned her back on Henrick's smirk-- and his eyes that never seemed to travel farther north than her neck. Since the day Christiana started working at The Oak she'd fought the desire to bend her knees to force his gaze to her face. It would only give him the wrong idea. Instead she threw back two ibuprofens with her milk and then set the glass into a nearby bin of dirty dishes. Gossip made her head hurt. The story wraps up beautifully with no cliffhanger

I was not expecting the exciting narrative that Lovely provided. I was prepared for a deliciously kinky romance, but I was not expecting the suspense and high-stakes Washington drama.

This book is the first in Elizabeth SaFleur's Elite Doms of Washington Series, but it is a stand-alone novel. The story wraps up beautifully with no cliffhanger, and the series promises new couples for subsequent books.

There's some mild BDSM themes running through the story (as the series name suggests) I would categorize the level of play as "intro-level" which is appropriate considering our young female MC was going through life blissfully unaware of the D/s scene.

As a side note, I want to say that:
1) Thank you Sweet Jesus, Christiana was NOT a virgin.
2) Jonathan has the most intriguing 'playrooms' I think I've ever read.
3) In a world full of tropey best friends in Modern Romance (They usually fall into three categories: The slut, the gay guy, or the absentee roommate who only shows up for 'important talks') this book presents the reader with Avery - The daughter of a Federal judge. She's a manipulative little socialite who has been Christina's life-long friend. I hated Avery in the best possible way. Her character elicited an immediate negative reaction (read intense loathing) from me, and she kept my attention throughout the book.

Christiana Snow:
Christiana's character started off painfully shy and unsure, but she was so authentic and believable. Her character grew into a vibrant and strong woman as the story progressed, and it was a joy to watch her thrive as a submissive.

We quickly learn that she's been taking care of herself for a very long time. Her family life has been far from idealistic, but she's pressed on with her head held high.

This story begins during the summer between her Freshman and Sophomore years in college. She's working her ass off at a Washington DC restaurant in order to afford next year's tuition.

When she's not serving DC's rich and powerful, she's being dragged to charity galas by her friend Avery, or playing designated driver for her alcoholic father.

Not an ideal life, but one that Christina has a firm hold on... Until she meets one dashing Congressman and her whole world is turned upside-down.

Congressman Jonathan Brond:
Hello drool-worthy Congressman! Brond comes from a political line as famous as the Kennedy's, and he's working to restore his family's prestige. He's the youngest member of Congress ever to be elected, and he's single.

Jonathan Brond sees Washington's blue-blooded socialites circling him like sharks and is determined to stay unattached. He has a solid plan for his future and relationships would only be a hindrance.

Congressman Bond isn't what I was expecting, and I was so wonderfully enthralled by his character. He has a genuine need to help everyone he can. He's not your standard politician, he plays the game because he feels like he has to redeem his family name and right the wrongs of his father.

Now would be a good time to mention that this book is dual-POV, so the reader gets a front row seat to Brond's inner-monologue as he falls hard for an extraordinary young woman.

Brond fought his instant attraction to the young and impressionable Christina Snow. The reasons to walk away were endless...
It's an election year,
She's nineteen years old,
Her father is a political journalist,
Her best friend keeps throwing herself at him...

Brond has no use for greedy little DC princesses like Avery, but he's helpless against his attraction to Christina. She's honest and kind, she isn't interested in wealth or power, she's independent and spirited - qualities Jonathan Brond doesn't see on Capital Hill.

Christiana Snow is offered the chance at a summer affair with DC's most eligible bachelor. She'll have to hide their relationship from her scheming best friend and her journalist father, but that's not all...

Jonathan Brond comes from a political family. He knows how to keep secrets, including a deliciously deviant preference for bondage and discipline.

The story progresses steadily with romance and suspense. Once this story gained momentum I was simply unable to put it down. There were several little twists and turns which surprised me and kept me on my toes.

Elizabeth SaFleur is a new-to-me author and I am impressed with what I've read so far. I think it's difficult to write a story with a wealthy sexual dominant and not conjure ghosts of so many books before, but Elizabeth SaFleur put a delicious DC spin on the subject, and I certainly enjoyed myself.

Lovely is a gripping erotic romance with BDSM themes. This is the first full-length stand alone book in the Elite Doms of Washington series. If you read the novella Holiday Ties, the timeline of the story is actually after the events in Lovely.

Christiana Snow plans to spend her summer earning her college tuition working at one of Washington DC's exclusive hotels, while juggling her alcoholic father and spoiled socialite best friend. When she delivers room service to the Jefferson Suite, she accidentally overhears Mrs. DeCord (Yvette from Holiday Ties) engaged in an elicit rendezvous with a man whose deep, commanding voice ignites her imagination and her desires.

Congressman Jonathan Brond has to be careful keeping his dominant proclivities under wraps -- especially in an election year -- but when he literally runs into Christiana at a charity event, he's immediately drawn to her. He knows getting involved with a nineteen-year-old with a reporter father is a bad idea, but he can't resist awakening Christiana's submissive nature. Besides, Christiana might be just the breath of fresh air he needs to unwind from the demands of his job and inferring father. But will he be able to let Christiana go at the end of the summer?

Reader beware, this book might challenge your assumptions...

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first Afrocentric homeopathic healing book. I usually read websites and books about medicinal herbal remedies. I garden. I eat a mostly plant based diet. I am a black woman. I do yoga. Etc. So, some of the information in the book I’ve heard about in passing. Without this book I wouldn’t have the courage to incorporate many of the author’s suggestions into my life. The suggestions would just get filed in the back of my mind like, “yeah, I should add Epsom salts to my bath or drops of lavender oil”.

I must admit that some of this book was a bit of a joke to me. I understand that everyone comes from differing educational backgrounds and lifestyles but I found it surprising for women to lack knowledge of their monthly menstrual cycle. I was also almost offended by one or two statements in the book about history… but hey, facts are facts and just because I am ‘over’ history doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

What I didn’t really love was the ritualistic nature of the entire book. I can’t imagine doing all that the author suggests. I don’t think I could go to work if I followed her guidelines. I added post its after post its to the book. There are so many teas, food ideas, relaxation ideas, suggested healing remedies (for ailments I don’t even have! LOL) that I know this book is invaluable. What I finally realized is that, like Christianity and segments of the Bible—this book is like a full manual to a lifestyle and (somewhat?) religious way of thinking. When I first opened the book I had no idea what the Khamit/Khamitic ways of thinking had to do with self-healing. By the end of the book I found myself carefully reading those sections. They are interesting.

I am not a regular churchgoer, but I fully believe in a higher power and accept his/her guidance in my life. Queen Afua’s higher power has multiple parts- Maat, Het-Hru, Nefer Atum, Heru, and Tehuti. This might bother a reader that comes from another religious tradition. It doesn’t bother me because I recognize that religion is a choice and the assumption of Christian belief that many American’s have is often just blind acceptance of a forced culture. Few examine their faith. I respect Queen Afua’s examination and explanation of how the tenets of her faith can lead to a womens’ self-healing. I wish other traditions did so. Many in the United States, as it is a supposed Christian nation, could benefit from such an examination instead of blind dependence on medical doctors, pills, and the health care system as our gods.

I understand that this book is meant to be an all inclusive guide but… I just don’t think I am on a path to becoming a sacred woman as laid out by Queen Afua. My final thought was… “this is so much work…” I am open to introspection, self-care, self-healing, and meditation but not exactly ready to set up my own altar… but I thought about it… hard.

Love the book

Love the book. This book gives full details on how to heal the body naturally through Afrikan rituals. I felt as if it took me into a journey to reuniting me with my heritage which also help me release a lot of hurt. I have recommended this book to my daughters and friends. It is very extensive to be ready to change your life.

Great resource for new teachers and reading coaches.

This text is truly user-friendly. I think is would be most useful for new teachers and any teachers who conduct professional development sessions. Although I did not really find enlightening answers in this book, it did endorse a lot of my own personal beliefs. I did find the sections on standardized testing and DIBELS useful. The book is well laid out; new teachers will find this to be a great resource to return to for some quick insight. I think the price of the book makes it a great value. Although I don't consider this one a "keeper", I will happily be giving it to a teacher I will be mentoring in the upcoming school year.

The Timing is Right for This Book

I can't remember the last time I smiled and nodded my head on almost every page of any book, let alone one that is packed with the latest federal research on education. I LOVED this so very user-friendly book--the format, the content, the accessibility, the way Dr. Garan articulates for me what I've been trying to put into words, the well-chosen quotes from research, the smooth way she lays everything out. There's no arguments, no disagreements, "just the facts, ma'am," all stated in a positive way. It's deceptively simple. Each section stands alone, but there's a cumulative effect...a kind of eye-opening, "How can anyone doubt what Dr. Garan been saying for years?" Reading her book gives me a sense of power and confirmation as a thinking teacher. The timing is right for this book.

About the Author
CHETAN SINGH SOLANKI, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB). He is the recipient of Young Scientist Award from European Material Research Society (2003), Young Investigator Award from IIT Bombay (2009) and several other awards for paper presentations. He has also authored a book Renewable Energy Technologies A Practical Guide for Beginners, published by PHI Learning, New Delhi. The Hindi version of this book got the first prize from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in 2011.

His research areas include high efficiency c-Si cells, thin film c-Si cells, concentrator cells and modules and nano-materials for solar cells. Dr. Solanki is currently one of the principal investigators of the National Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE), funded by the MNRE, Government of India.
