Funny Mother

I waited and waited for Bad Mothers Detox. Oh my goodness, it was so good, so funny, and really Juliettes misfortunes. Just so good, I am looking forward to the next Bad Mother Story. I read this in a day, and I will read anything Suzy writes without hesitation. Where do you come up with this stuff. Sooo good. So anxious to hear what happens with Juliette, Alex, Daisy and the new baby.

Great read and enjoyment from this book.

I loved the story. It is presented as a daily diary. You really get the full story. The characters are so engaging and truly a motley crew. It is enjoyable from beginning to end and hope the story continues. Juliette's mishaps and life are truly amazing. Can so much happen to one person. Makes you really appreciate all that life has to offer. Suzy Quinn is a great author with a lot of heart and vivid imagination.

A MUST have for aspiring animators and story artists!

I own many art books. I'm an artist and an animator by trade, so I favor those sorts of art books. There will be days where I sit in my living room, a stack of them all around me, and I'll read through them for hours. So I knew, as a fan of the show's background designs specifically, that I needed to add Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo to my collection as soon as I heard of its release.
I was not disappointed.
In fact, The Art of Ooo has changed my expectations for art books. This book is special. It's the book I recommend to those aspiring toward an animation career regardless on if they've seen Adventure Time or not. This book is THOROUGH; it is so much more than a collection of beautiful illustrations. You get the show's origin story. You learn about the team behind the Adventure Time universe. You glimpse their studio process, their pitch bible, and even the art tests they send to prospective new recruits. I learned so much from this book. I'm STILL learning so much from this book.
The Art of Ooo is huge. You won't be carrying this book with you on the train to read during your commute -- heck, it's difficult enough reading it before bed! The book is heavy, but it's overflowing with excellent information and amazing artwork. Out of my entire collection, this art book is my favorite. It'll surely become yours, too!

Everything you could ever want to know about the Land of Ooo

Awesome book. Everything you could hope for from the Adventure Time team and Pendleton Ward. Comprehensive on the creative process, other characters that Pendleton has created. Tons of artwork. Literally, nearly 5 pounds of art for your face. Even a quick glance through will provide you with tons of insight into characters and their origins, a deeper reading adds just that much more understanding to the Land of Ooo and all its awesome inhabitants. Definitely, strongly recommend.

Physical damage, but great content.

My book was damaged. The front of the cover was torn at the bottom. The packaging was intact. Lame. The book is great though. Pretty much everything you could want to know or see about Adventure Time is here. I especially liked all of the sketches and how it included the rejected drawings and the accepted ones. It's pretty fun to imagine Finn carrying one of the reject swords or all of Marcy's outfit concepts and hair styles that we never saw. Lots of fun. There's a lot of art that you just never see in the show. It also features a lot of still by still images of some of the best scenes artistically. Like Jake stretching his body through a mesh wall. I especially like the art from the earlier episodes. You can see how it was more similar to your standard, kind of raunchy modern Cartoon Network show, and then slowly evolved into its own little universe and totally changed with time.

Informational, Inspirational, and Enlightening!

I found this book in a search to better understand the power that comes with speaking in tongues. The writer gives lots of scripture throughout the book to support his views and also gives very powerful and compelling personal experiences for himself and others. It helped to strengthen my understanding and belief that this truly is a gift from God and one to be desired. It gives some direction in the use of tongues in your prayer life and explains the difference in the prophetic tongue and the prayer tongue. I think this book will become foundational for those who believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues or those who simply want to better understand it. I have already told others about this book and will keep it in my personal library.

You see, this book's title is something careful many
churches and the body of Christ have been evading to give
crystal-clear answer that will satisfy our curiocity.

Despite the fact that I am a Christan who was to believe in
Jesus as soon as I came of of my mother's womb, there was some spiritual thirst that none of the ordinary methods in time-honored church's community could not quench at all.

From the time when I was even in elementary school,
I wished to meet Jesus personally not doctrinally.
The very burning desire I had in my deep spirit was kindled
by this life-changing book.

In a nutshell, this book is a life-chnaging book giving tremendous help and profound teaching and lesson to readers!

Actually, 'speaking in tongues' is something careful that many
Christians and even some pastors are reluctunt to mention
in their sermons.
Unfortunately, I was taught that 'speaking in tongues' was
none other than something special given to
those who don't have big and deep faith by the Holy Spirit who wants them to have conviction about their faith.

When I went to a Christianity bookstore, I found this book
titled .
My heart was throbbing at the time because I was not quite sure about whether buying it was what God wanted me to buy.

But at the time, I was rather sensitive about hearing the voice
of God and I received a spiritual impression telling me that
God was pleased with me who wanted to get it.

So I bought it and began to devour it day after day.

As soon as I had read some part in this book,
I was fascinated by this lovely book!
This book is full of gripping and interesting story.
Each of the stories are amazing and interesting enough to draw
your attention!

Furthermore,this book is not swayed toward unbiblical direction
at all.
Instead, this book will provide you with practical knowledge
and information that are totally biblical.

'Speaking in tongues is somethig careful to many Christians
and there are not so many books dealing with the topic.
But this book, 'The hidden power of speaking in tongues',
is really good and wholesome book giving biblical information
to readers, I guess.

Short "Chapters" of varying depth on a wide variety of theological topics

The Popular Patristics Series from St. Vladimir's Seminary Press is one of the most readable and accurate series of early Christian literature available to this day. It contains works from Sts. Athanasius, Basil the Great, Gregory of Nazianzus, Ignatius of Antioch, and John Chrysostom just to name a few. Today, I am going to tell you about one of the latest volumes entitled Two Hundred Chapters on Theology by St. Maximus the Confessor. It is Volume 53 in the series.

The book begins with a biography of St Maximus, but states that accurate biographical information is hard to come by. What we do know is that he was born around 580 A.D. and he was probably part of Constantinople's aristocracy. The Two Hundred Chapters were written between 628 and 630 with themes that include limitations of Creation; mystical contemplations of Scripture; and asceticism. The Chapters in this book contain Greek on one side and an English translation on the opposite page, which is especially handy for those who want to read the original text. The Chapters are also not we would think of as chapters, but short paragraphs whose messages have varying degrees of depth. I would now like to provide a few brief quotes to show you St. Maximus' wisdom.

"The wise man, when teaching and being taught, wills only to be taught and to teach profitable things; but he who would appear wise, hen asking and being asked, propounds only rather pretentious statements."

"A 'heart' is 'pure' that represents its recollections as altogether formless and shapeless before God and stands ready to be imprinted with his characteristics alone, through which he naturally becomes manifest."

These are two of the shorter and more straightforward Chapters. There are other, which are both longer and deeper in content. If you would like to read the words of a great saint, in little paragraph bites, I recommend this book. With 200 Chapters, you will have enough to get you through a little over half of the year with enough time to go back to some of the meatier ones and chew on them a little longer and extract all the spiritual nutrients they contain.

So the question of the hour is “How does this work compare to Maximus’s other treatment in Cosmic Mystery of Jesus Christ? Cosmic Mystery deals primarily with Maximus’s anti-Origenist polemic and his treatment of the two wills of Christ. This work certainly touches on those issues, but not directly. Luis Sales does a fine intro to this rather advanced work on theology. In doing so,

Sales clarifies key Maximian terms and suggests a unifying theme: the two ages. Tantum...quantum (hoson...tosouton). The two ages refer to a single, unifying movement of divine condescension. Human and divine experiences interweave the fabrics of space/time (Sales 26).
Maximus’s Two Ages: one age leads to Incarnation; the other to human deification. Yet they aren’t meant to stay apart. They interweave into one movement.

This work also deals more heavily with the doctrine of God proper. God is beyond substance, potentiality, and actuality (Maximus I.2). God isn’t substance. He causes substance. Further, it touches on the relation of God to thought: Since All thought contains plurality, “since there is a mediating relationship between the two specific extremes” (1.82)., and God is simple, then God is beyond thought (2.2).

The book ends with a beautiful section on the consummation of the Ages. Origen is wrong because we can’t fall into another age once we reach stasis with God because God is beyond, indeed even “preceding” those ages. Origen posits stasis, kinesis, genesis. Maximus says this won’t hold because it assumes that God is incapable of satisfying every desire, thus a fall. Therefore, we have instead Becoming, Movement, Rest.

Should you get this work? Yes, but perhaps not right away. You should definitely read St Gregory and Pseudo-Dionysius beforehand, or much of Maximus will be lost on you. This is theology at the highest level.
