About the Author
Noted Route 66 author, artist and historian, Jerry McClanahan has been mapping Route 66 since his family vacations during the 1960s, when he sat in the back seat of the family Ford, trying to draw his own crude map of the road. Born in Oklahoma in 1957, Jerry s family moved out to sunny Southern California in 1959 (sadly, they did NOT take Route 66). Then there followed a decade of wonderful journeys down the Mother Road, from California thru Oklahoma City. These back seat travels left an indelible mark on him, one that eventually came to color the whole fabric of his creativity. Jerry rediscovered Route 66 in 1981, when he and his father made a trip out west, stopping at everything this time. Since then, almost every year has found Jerry making numerous expeditions along the route, mapping, photographing and collecting information. In the early 1990s, Jerry began painting and writing about the Mother Road full time, enjoying a long stint as staff artist and a staff writer for Route 66 Magazine before moving on to write for the Federation News and American Road (where he was a department editor). In 1994, he collaborated with OK 66 expert Jim Ross on the best-selling Route 66 Map Series (which features his unofficial Route 66 mascot Rootie ), as well as the 1998 s acclaimed Bones of the Old Road video (with Kathy Anderson). Jerry s photographs have appeared in numerous books and periodicals, while his paintings of old cars on Route 66 hang in private collections across the country and overseas. In 2008, Jerry moved to Chandler, Oklahoma, where he welcomes visitors to his art gallery, just a stone's throw off Route 66.

Second Ed. EZ66 GUIDE

I read these reviews before buying this guide. They were all glowing except Mr. Walker saying that he wanted more information on what to see. Then I read dozens more great reviews on the first EZ guide.

I figured, it's a good chance this guy was confused. And after getting the guide, I could tell he was. He must not have read what it is. It is to make it easy for you to find the difficult to find old route not to give you places to stay or eat, supermarkets, locations of gas stations or anything else. Yes it does include some high points but give us a break! Walker should have bought the Dining & Lodging Guide and Adventure Handbook.

Don't do Route 66 without it!

An invaluable tool for travelling Route 66 from beginning to end, as important as your vehicle. This book will keep you on track, informed, and make things "EZ" for you. I just used this book on a two-week trip (Sept 2006), and couldn't imagine doing it without this guide. (Although Illinois is very well signed and easy to follow on it's own.)

Get this, as well as the "Route 66 Adventure Handbook", and you'll be armed with all you need for a fun and complete trip down The Mother Road. I can't recommend these books strongly enough!

I can't, however, recommend the "Route 66 Lodging/Dining Guide", as it was a real let-down for us. Incomplete in some sections, useless in others. (the recommended "Lincoln Motel" in Chandler OK was a filthy dump!) Just find your lodging & dining as you go along the route, and don't be afraid to try the various offerings along the way. You might be pleasantly surprised! (Ask to see rooms before you check in, though.)

Oh, and be sure to check the EZ66 author's updates before leaving! (He offers up to date info that didn't make it into the book.)

Don't drive Route 66 without this book!

Perfect for driving Route 66! The step-by-step instructions are very clear and concise (even if they seem confusing before you reach each turn/point). Some of the side trips aren't as clearly defined, but Google and GPS can usually clear that up. The details about hotels, motels, restaurants and attractions are great (although doing a little Google/Yelp/TripAdvisor research into some of them doesn't hurt either). Our drive down 66 wouldn't have been the same without this book!

I loved it. It was a blast. I want to read this forever. You should read it. You would like it too, I bet. This book might relate to people if they like adventures. The main characters are Tom and Lucy. My favorite part of the book is when they get scared by the monster in the wall. They got stuck in the big kid's school that is how the adventure happened. I gave this book 5 stars but I want to give it more than 5!!!!!!

It's about eight mice that look like humans except they have tails.They live inside a wall of a house and to eat, they have to sneak,and steal food.To receive their mail, they put a rope on top of the chimny.One day the rope ripped and a girl and a boy had to climb down and get the letter and the boy gave the letter to his sister. The boy leaned on a brick and the brick moved so they started pushing the brick and they found a room and a picture on top of a table. I liked the book because it was funny.

This book is very interesting. Tom and Lucy go on a adventure at school and find little peep holes hidden in the classroom walls. They discover that that through the peep holes you can look into a class room. They also snuck into the classroom at night and turned on the projector and laid down on the project to project themselves as four feet tall!

These fun adventures made Lucy feel more comfartable at school. Soon she loved school and she could hardly wait to go to school.

raves from a lowbrow newbie

I do not come from the lowbrow culture ,whatever that is, and have never paid it any heed. But I came across this book and my eyes have been opened. This art is NOT what I had assumed - it's clever, thoughtful, insightful, and challenging. It has an in-your-face attitude which I think held me at bay for a while. But through this book I have learned to relax, to appreciate and to enjoy. Many thanks and much admiration to Kirsten Anderson for assembling this, and for including three short but effective essays by three painters who helped me discover a whole new world lying right before my eyes.

Can't say enough terrific things about this, it's one of the best selections of modern art available. Yeah. I said modern art and not "outsider" art. Sorry kids, but that new crap we see in Artforum and in the big museums is the hellspawn of marketing, grant maggotry, the corporate world, and the new corporate academia. It has little to do with the natural evolution of Western Art. If it tickles you to think you're being a Bad-Boy/Girl/Whatever by liking this "outsider" stuff then you're falling right into their game plan, you're a niche market and they'll try to eat up this world just like they ate up "alternative music" in one big gulp. This art is the art of true Americans and that other yuck--the so-called mainsteam (which includes the pre-fab avant-garde nowadays no matter how middle-class titilating and naughty it be) is the Devils' work--the real Devil, the one that created Wal-Mart and George W. Bush.

Love this art, demand that your museums purchase it, rejoice in the fact that you'll never see some Ryden or Williams hanging in a corporate headquarters, sing Hosannas that some trendy art monkey with a Smith degree won't be writing pompous reviews using terms like "globalization" and "gender" about this stuff, wrap yourself in the red, white, and blue, and sing the Star Spangeled Banner! I just wish we could find some equivalent modern creative types with this kind of vitality in music and architecture.

A great introductory book

What is 'lowbrow' art? This book attempts to assemble a collection of art from an ever growing movement of artists going against assumptions of conventional art. But don't you think this is a boring book of essays. Only the first few pages are text, the rest is pure visual feast, as it should be.

Shock-full of colorful art sometimes cartoonesque and always thought-provoking, this book is destined to become known as the first collection of artist works in the vein of Mark Ryden, Marion Peck or Liz McGrath.

Also, if you like this kind of art, don't miss out on the magazine Juxtapoz. If by now you haven't been properly exposed to 'lowbrow' art or 'surrealist pop' or even 'rebel art' as we're still struggling to name it, check out this beautiful book. You won't be disappointed.

We only wish the book was thicker.

About the Author

Tina Seelig earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience from Stanford University Medical School and is Professor of the Practice in the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford's School of Engineering and executive director of the Stanford Technology Ventures Program. She is the international bestselling author of What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20 and inGenius: A Crash Course on Creativity. In 2009, Seelig was awarded the prestigious Gordon Prize from the National Academy of Engineering for her pioneering work in engineering education. Follow her on Twitter at @tseelig.

Eliza Foss has performed in numerous theaters both in New York City and around the country. She's performed in "Ten Unknown, Natural Selection", and "Angels Don't Dance", among others. She holds a M.F.A from the New York University Graduate Acting Program. This book was recommended to me by my professor at the University of Baltimore for an entrepreneurship class. I did not know what to expect but after reading the first few chapters I knew that this was a thought-provoking step-by-step book for young adults and entrepreneurs who could follow the stories of successful entrepreneurs to gain knowledge on how to put their creative ideas to work. Tina puts it that some people may be born to be creative but that cannot stop someone from learning how to be creative and implementing ideas. Insight Out is a must read for anyone who wants to get past the “Writers Block” of ideas to know and believe that they can achieve the impossible. This book has a lot of actionable insights about how to get your brain to think more creatively. You will learn how to spur imagination and innovative problem-solving thoughts outside your current thought process, leading you to revelations about your work and your life, and how you can then develop concrete steps to turn those thoughts into reality. In summary, her book can be divided into 4 different part, or what is known as the "Inventure Cycle” 1.) Imagination 2.) Creative 3.) Innovation 4.) Entrepreneurship. Tina does a great job of describing this process with her years of teaching at Stanford. I plan on reading her other books especially “What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20” as I feel that could relate to me and other young adults in college and and in their early 20’s.

This book does not have much to do with its title of getting ideas out of your head and into the world. The author has compiled a lot of feel good stories from the exceptional people of the world whose ideas worked out for them. That’s all well and good, however most of us don’t have the foresight to know whether our ideas are going to work out. The author throws in a few studies, but none of the findings are revolutionary or particularly relevant to the concept of getting ideas out into the world. I am really disappointed because I read this because I’m pitching one of my ideas to a crowd this week. The most insightful part of this book is when the author suggests the fail fast method of testing your ideas out. Don’t overthink or over plan an idea, just put it into action and learn from it. She also suggests reframing as a technique to think of solutions to problems and to get more creative ideas. The organization of this book does not flow smoothly. There is no lasting impression after reading this book. It is just some anecdotes from the author about what she thinks leads to creativity and innovation. It might be worth skimming if you are looking for inspiration.

Must read!

I thought Stay With Me was an awesome book, but So Into You topped that one. I love the series. I love this book! It was filled with lots of humor and hot sex. Author did not disappoint. Will continue to buy books from this author in the future. Highly recommended, but if you did not read Stay With Me, read that one first.

Didn't dissappoint

I have been looking forward to this book for such a long time so I really tried to read it slow and make it last, and yet I found myself up half the night just trying to get in one more chapter, one more chapter! I was worried because I loved the first one so so much and because I was looking forward to this one for so long I was afraid I would be disappointed or it wouldn't live up to the hype. But I loved it. I love this author's writing style. I love the wit and sarcasm and humor in her books. Gosh, some of the descriptions she comes up with and the metaphors! OMG, such an imagination!! I love her characters. They're all so likable, genuine, vulnerable manly men! I love watching two reluctant, gun shy men fall into love against their will. I love the banter and the camaraderie, and the friendship that exists before we get to the steamy parts. And the steamy parts. Ho-Lee Crap. So steamy. Which brings us to Mac. I love love love Mac. And I love Mac and Jordan and it was great to get a glimpse of their life as well. I love the relationship between Mac and Drew. I just love this world the author has created and all the people in it. Once again its everything I love in a romance novel, its just a really fun, sweet, hot, entertaining read and I hope we get a book 3! and for those who might wonder it has a HEA and no cliffhangers and while it can be read as a stand alone, you absolutely should read the first book first just because you should! Highly recommend!

Wow I loved their story. I laughed and sometimes wanted to scream at them - that just made it better. I adored the wit and sarcasm. Soooo good. They had their moments that made it so real. I love thecwriting and think this was an amazing sequel to Mac & Jordan. Sooooo worth the wait!!!

Delamotte (English, Arizona State Univ.), Jean O'Barr (director of women's studies, Duke Univ.), and Natania Meeker, a Duke graduate student, have compiled an impressive collection of women's writings through the ages. The book is organized into six sections: Sexuality, Spirituality, and Power; Work and Education; Representing Women; Writing the Body Politic; Identifying Sources of Resistance; and Vision and Transformation. The collection presents writings ranging from Sumangalamata, a Buddhist nun (sixth century B.C.E.) to a section from the "Platform for Action" of the Beijing Conference in 1995. Also very useful are indexes by geographical location and chronology, since women from 40 countries are included. This will make an excellent reader for survey classes on world history as well as women's history and studies. Eugenia C. DeLamotte is Associate Professor of English at Arizona State University. Her publications include Perils of the Night: A Feminist Study of Nineteenth-Century Gothic (1990). Natania Meeker is a doctoral candidate at Duke University and has published on feminist theory. University. Jean F. O'Barr is the Director of Women's Studies at Duke University. Her many books include the edited collection Talking Gender: Public Images, Personal Journeys, and Political Critiques (1996).

Feminism

I love this book because it contains the printed words of feminists from different parts of the world and different time periods. It will teach you about philosophy, history, and explores how culture, religion, and physical violence have been used to support and enforce male dominance for thousands of years. I got this book for my Humanities class, but I'm still reading it now because it has such interesting and valuable content.

Don't bother buying

It was in nice condition but a chunk of pages were missing pages 13-60 which is stupid because the book is now useless for me !!! Notice in my picture the page numbers are on the bottom. Beyond upset!!!!
