easy read, worthy applying

Maxwell is masterful at squeezing an immense amount of helpful, practical advice into this short, easy-to-read, anecdote-filled book. Your attitude affects so much in your life, and it's one of the few things that you can actually control. A good attitude doesn't necessarily make good things happen to you, but it sure does help. Or you can easily set yourself up for failure by harboring a bad attitude, undermining your own efforts to succeed. Maxwell begins by wisely differentiating between what your attitude can and can't do for you, and concludes by covering five major attitude obstacles: discouragement, change, fear, problems, and failure. I'd recommend The Difference Maker to anyone that has an attitude, good or bad.

A good book to remind us why and how attitude can make a difference.

I would like to first state that this is the first book I read by Maxwell so I wasn't sure what to expect. I don't normally read a lot of books like these and also know that he's written quite a few so I intend to be selective about what I do read.
I enjoyed this book. Would I say it's changed my life radically? No, because I haven't made any purposeful application of it yet. Although it's easy for me to say that I know attitude makes a difference, it's nice to be reminded about how and why that is and I felt John did that very well. I found it refreshing that he states up front that while attitude can be a game changer, it's not everything. It changes the way we approach an issue. The book is, of course, a great reminder about the ways in which it is and can be but Maxwell demonstrates with examples why that is. I especially found his chapters on fear and failure to be insightful, especially when he discusses self-sabotaging behaviors that people commit.
In my opinion, if you sense or have ever been told that you need to change your attitude, you may want to start helping that by reading this book. Granted, it won't turn your world upside down but there are a lot of things in it I found to be thought-provoking about my own attitude and its affects on how I respond to challenges in life.

Once again, John Maxwell offers insights & guidance about human nature. He challenges our thinking about ourselves and others. Then asks us to join him in life's struggles (opportunities). A GREAT read. "People get ready, there's a train a-comic's. You don't need no ticket. Just get on board."
