About the Author
Dawn Brower has lived in Michigan her whole life and currently resides in Midland, MI. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Education, and is currently working on a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts with concentrations in Literature, History, and Sociology. She works as a substitute teacher and enjoys the flexibility it gives her to concentrate on her other endeavors. Growing up she was the only girl out of six children. She is a single mother of two teenage boys; there is never a dull moment in her life. Reading books is her favorite hobby. There is nothing like a nice glass of wine and a good book to relax with at the end of the day. There are always stories inside her head; she just never thought she could make them come to life. That creativity has finally found an outlet.

Beautiful story of sadness and hope!

Broken Pearl, very well written, by Dawn Brower, is a powerful emotional story!
The year is 1941 and paradise is a way of life in Hawaii, where Rebecca O'Shea, a naval nurse, is loving her life, until death and destruction cause chaos and war! It was her dream to be a nurse, but now she has feelings and premonitions of death and darkness. Some scenes are very emotional! I shed some tears during some scenes. She will embark, with her friends, specially Joel, on a journey of real darkness. As the Japanese bomb her home, her gift explodes within her. Loss and pain become her new way of life. She abandons all hope and shuts down her empathic abilities. At least, as a nurse, she feels that she is helping others. A journey filled with twists and turns!
The historical research, for Broken Pearl, was well done and nicely written. But it's so emotional!

Wonderful story

Wonderful story of tragedy, sisterhood, and love. Rebecca has found the best friends a girl could have. Sometimes family comes in the form of friends and she has found the perfect combination. Each of the girls bring there own special touch to the group. As the tragedy of Pear Harbor Approaches everyone on the Island is enjoying their life in paradise and making plans for the upcoming Holidays, unaware of what is to come. Rebecca and her friends plan for the holidays and her wedding to David. And then Joel comes in to her life. Rebecca feels a special connection to Joel that she can not explain. Joel is there to help with Rebecca figure out her special gift. With the tragedy ahead how will it all work out.

On a trip into the lives of nurses that were in Pearl Harbor on the day of Destruction that changed our history forever. Dawn has written a wonderful story that has the back drop of war with just the right amount of fantasy mixed into it. You don't want to miss this one!!
